ACCESSIBILITY FOR MOBILITY CHALLENGED GUESTS
We are dedicated to making the Freedom 250 Grand Prix experience as enjoyable and stress-free as possible for every guest. From accessible grandstand seating, viewing platforms and hospitality options, to bridges with elevator lifts, free shuttles, ample first aid stations, and street level track crossings scheduled throughout each day; we are committed to making it possible for guests with physical challenges to comfortably navigate our venue. Accessible flooring is provided on the grass panels for access to shade tents. Additional details regarding these accommodations are listed below:
Accessible Seating
The Freedom 250 Grand Prix offers a limited number of grandstand seats and viewing platforms available on a first-come, first-served basis. No reserved seating is available, but additional viewing platforms are reserved exclusively for ADA guests. Please reference the venue map for specific locations of accessible grandstands and viewing platforms
Admission Gates
All lanes of the six admission gates are accessible with each offering exclusive lanes for guests using wheelchairs or other mobility devices along with hospitality suite passholders. Look for the overhead signs, stating “ADA & Suite Guests only.” We recommend that guests with mobility challenges entering the Stripes zone from the North use Gate 1 and guests coming from the South enter the Stripes zone via Gate 5 as each of these entrances are in close proximity to the bridges offering elevator lift service. The Stars zone is fully accessible from Gates A or B, with no bridges to cross.
Bridges
Two (2) of the venue’s bridges offer elevator lift service allowing guests to cross the track at any time during the weekend. Priority will be given to guests in wheelchairs or other wheeled mobility devices. Specific locations include:
- NTT Bridge, located at 4th Street crossing over Pennsylvania Avenue near Gate 1
- Bitdeer Bridge, located east of 7th Street crossing over Independence Avenue close to Gate 5
First Aid/Medical Services
Trained medical personnel will be on site at eight first aid stations located throughout the venue during open gate hours on race weekend. Specific locations of the first aid stations can be found on the venue map. In case of an emergency, call 911 and medical personnel will respond immediately. Any guests who need assistance should locate a Guest Services representative, if possible.
Hospitality Areas
Elevator lifts will be available to access each of the Freedom 250 Grand Prix hospitality areas: Monument Suites Powered by Verizon, Champions Club, Delta 250 Suites and Gulfstream Suite. Note that guests using wheelchairs or other wheeled mobility devices will be given priority in the use of these lifts.
Shuttle Service
To help ease the challenges of moving around the venue, free shuttles will run continuously throughout each day to assist Hospitality and Mobility Challenged guests. Pre-established shuttle routes will operate in each zone utilizing six-passenger and wheelchair-accessible golf carts will be available for each route. In the Stars area, the shuttle carts and stops are identified as “ADA Shuttles” while in the Stripes zone, they are identified as “ADA & Suite Shuttles.”
The two established routes are:
- Stripes Zone: North/South along 4th Street between Constitution and Jefferson Avenues and east/west through the National Mall between 4th and 7th Streets
- Stars Zone: running east/west through the National Mall between 9th and 12th Streets
NOTE: While within relatively close distance, the Stripes shuttle route does not include stops immediately adjacent to any of the Hospitality Suite locations.
Each shuttle stop offers a waiting tent, staffed by Guest Services volunteers with radios. Guests requiring a wheelchair-accessible golf cart or with other special needs should speak with a Shuttle Stop volunteer.
Street Level Track Crossings
Street level track crossings are scheduled for periods of time throughout each day when there is no on-track activity. Possible track crossing times are updated and posted at each location, and assistance is available from Circuit Marshal volunteers stationed nearby. Tents are available on either side of each location as a waiting area until the next crossing session.
Crossing locations, starting on Pennsylvania Avenue, include:
- Between Turns 1 & 2, at 6th Street over Pennsylvania Avenue (Restricted use and special hours apply to this location only)
- Turn 2, at 9th Street NW crossing Pennsylvania Avenue
