Racing Around History
Freedom 250 Grand Prix
Every INDYCAR race has something that makes it unique.
For some, it's the natural beauty of Road America. For others, it's the Yard of Bricks at Indianapolis Motor Speedway or racing in the shadow of major league stadiums in Arlington.
The Freedom 250 Grand Prix offers something unlike any other event on the calendar.
Not only does the racetrack sit among some of the nation's most recognizable landmarks, but within the race footprint itself are museums and institutions that care for some of America's most treasured artifacts. While drivers compete on the streets of Washington, INDYCAR fans are just steps away from objects that tell the story of our nation's history, culture and innovation.
From the document that declared a nation's independence to the airplane that changed the way the world travels, these iconic artifacts are all located within the footprint of this historic event.
Here are a few remarkable treasures you may not realize are inside the Freedom 250 Grand Prix course.
